Tadd Fujikawa Playing in the 2008 Sony Open

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

Tadd Fujikawa has been offered a sponsors exemption to the tournament that launched him to stardom in the golfing world. It was a tournament that Michelle Wie was supposed to make her splash at but instead saw the small Fujikawa make it big.

I’m talking about the Sony Open which is to be played at Waialae Country Club on January 10-13th. Tadd finished 20th overall after making the cut by shooting a second round 66.

Tadd later went on to become a Pro over the summer.

Michelle Wie is still waiting for her sponsors exemption while she no doubt finishes finals at her first semester at Stanford.

Tadd Strong Through 16 in the First Round

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

Tadd Fujikawa started out the day strong playing even par through 16 holes. His goal, to make the cut for the first time in 5 tries as a PGA professional. (Of course I’m sure he’s always thinking win thought. :)

However, the 17th hole gave him troubles and threw a minor kink in his plans. the 17th came with a double bogey placing him at 2 over par after he finished the day with a par. A score that places him near the bottom of the leaderboard.

Bob May leads all golfers with a 9 under after the first day. Tadd Fujikawa will have a tough road to climb back up since he’ll be chasing the majority of the pack. Only 5 golfers shot worse than his 2 over.

Tadd Tees Off Early in Vegas

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

Tadd Fujikawa will try to make his first cut in a tournament as a professional golfer this weekend. He’s tried four times before so hopefully the 5th time is a charm.

Tadd will tee it up at 8:20 am (PST). He’ll have an early start and be on of the first in the Frys.com tournament.

Tadd Will Play in Las Vegas PGA Event Next Week

Friday, October 5th, 2007

Tadd Fujikawa has accepted a sponsors exemption to play in the Frys.com Open next week and Las Vegas, Nevada.

This will be Tadd’s first event since failing to qualify on the Nationwide Tour in Idaho. he did manage a late rally to finish under par, and also scored a hole in one in that tournament.

This event will be held at the TPC Summerlin and TPC Canyons courses in Vegas and is a charity tournament benefiting the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

In an interview Tadd sounded excited to play and mentioned that he’d been working on his game and is ready to go.

Late Rally From Tadd A Bit Too Late

Friday, September 21st, 2007

After Tadd Fujikawa shot a hole in one yesterday to go with his 1 under par 70, he was ready to make a run at the cut on the Nationwide Tour. It would be his first cut made since he turned professional.

The day just didn’t turn out as he had hoped. He didn’t play horrible, just not up to par with the others on the day. He started out with a string of pars and then stumbled with a bogey and 8. After this he made up for it with an immediate birdie on the next hole.

He was making the turn even for the day and in need of what looked like 2 birdies to make the projected cut of 3 under par at the time. He then bogeyed 12 and 14 slipping him to 2 over on the day and 1 over through the two days. All this as the projected cut moved from 3 under to 4 under.

However, Fujikawa made a late rally, really showing some good potential to not give up even when the day isn’t going quite as planned. He made birdie on the final two holes of the day finishing back up at even par for the round and 1 under for the tournament. Out of weekend play but with some positive golf shots and holes to look at.

Tadd Fujikawa Likely to Miss Cut

Friday, September 21st, 2007

The second round of the Albertsons Boise Open is in progress and we have some late breaking news.

Tadd Fujikawa is working on making a cut in his fourth tournament as a professional but it doesn’t look like this Nationwide Tour tournament will be his chance. Fujikawa is currently on the 15th hole and is sitting at 1 over par. The projected cut is 3 under, meaning Fujikawa has a lot of work to do in just three holes.

We’ll keep you updated and give you a tournament recap as soon as we know what happens.
